About Us

Welcome to Maadhyam Learning Resource.

We are a group of parents and professionals who want to extend our circle of learning and caring by sharing and receiving on:

How to

1. make learning fun.
2. make life long learners.
3. create a world where differences are celebrated.
4. follow a sustainable way of life.

Leaving a better tomorrow for our children.
  • We want to create a platform a single roof across virtual and physical medium where we share available material and resources on Learning & Parenting. Under learning we will also cover topics like curriculum, philosophies, toys, careers, etc.
  • We will curate, host, conduct activities that strengthen the parent child bond, bring an appreciation of differences around them, and help the child explore and strengthen skills.
  • We believe in collective knowledge and yes we will share openly what we know, but equally we look to you to share openly by asking questions, sharing thoughts and resources.

We welcome all schoolers, homeschoolers and unschoolers.

The fast paced and changing world that our children will inhabit requires one skill above all, the ability to change. See what is change and change with it or before they are forced to or made obsolete. The first step to changing is not being scared of change  but embracing  and welcoming it. The only way to change is by learning new ways. Our children need to become  Life Long Learners.

We can make them Life Long Learners only firstly if they associate learning with fun and secondly if they see you, the parent learning and having fun.

For this purpose Maadhyam will:

  1. Share articles and lectures that educate parents about the learning process and how to facilitate it as parents. (in our groups, blog & face to face).
  2. Conduct different learning  activities that include parent and child. (Online and face to face)
  3. This is to strengthen parent child bonding & communication. You will reap the benefits of this when your child enters their tween, teens and adulthood. It will open up channels and keep them open to help you support them through the stresses and strains of life. Our aim is you should be the friend they reach out to in their times of need. And then when you grow old, you will be there to reminisce and have those conversations.
  4. Share and start you thinking of the different activities you can  do as a parent to open them up to learning. Have fun and grow together. Fortunately there are lots of conventional and unconventional activities, that require little or no investment or time. When learning becomes fun it improves their attitude to learning and education irrespective of what they want to pursue.

Why do we want you to learn together? (Child, Dad & Mum)

Children learn best from observation, modelling and practice. When they watch you learn and enjoy what they are learning is:
1. What I am learning is fun.
2. If it happens repeatedly it tells them learning is fun.
3.I am important to my parent (they are there for me).
4. We remember best our experiences, memories and stories and that is what you are creating for them.

These shared experiences will build the bridge of trust over which tomorrow they will reach across when they need help to get past difficulties in life. And did you know it is these same bridges that you can use today to help them remember those difficult concepts ...and yes in academics also.

Why did we choose Learning?

Learning is universal. We learn whether we want to or don't want to, there is no getting away. We can only moderate the "what is being learnt."

When a child is ignored while the parent is busy on the mobile - the child learns I am not important, the mobile is. And when you tell your child otherwise, that no it is the mobile that is not important you just told your child two things:
1. It is Ok to lie
2. And more dangerously - not to trust you. " If the mobile is not important, how come more time is spent on it?"

I don't think any parent wants their child to learn the above. But look around you many are teaching this lesson, daily.

Moderation of the what of learning depends on the activities that are brought together, the answers you give or don't give when your child asks or doesn't ask. It does not depend on the amount of time, or the list of activities it depends upon the nature of activities and interactions.

Yes this is very good news for working parents and fathers. Very often the stress, pressures and time demands of work mean there is little time and energy left for the child. We here are talking about different methods, activities and routines you can incorporate on a regular basis to form deep and lasting bonds. More importantly have fun while doing the same.

The bad situation of time pressures and stress are heightened by the child's time pressures and stress due to school. The pressures make themselves felt even as the child enters grade one and by the time a child reaches middle school it becomes a crescendo. The child's natural creativity and curiosity is streamlined to create an academically acceptable and brilliant child. No, we are not professing homeschooling. We are saying that your choice should be based on what brings balance into your lives and creates strong bonds. We believe any choice that makes a child and parent happy is the right choice.

Some time parents intuitively know what has to be done. Other times especially without the support of experienced elder around us some of us struggle. Our aim is to build a community. We want you to converse and share experiences. If it takes a village to raise a child let's build one. After all Mumbai is an overgrown village.

At Maadhyam we don't believe we have the sole rights on experience, maturity, outlook or innovativeness. We swear by your & our collective knowledge.

We stand for your choice - balance - to create stronger bonds with your child. This can be accomplished by schooling, homeschooling and unschooling parents. Let no parent say I don't have the time to bond with my child; I don't know how to teach my child. There are things tiny, small and big that can be done to create a spiral of learning and bonding. And we at Maadhyam are just a medium to ferry you across. Please use the medium to reach out to each other, ask questions, create play dates, share resources...it is endless.

Best Regards
