Parent – The First Teacher मातृपितृकृताभ्यासो गुणितामेति बालकः । The child taught by mother and father becomes qualified. A baby inside the mother’s womb first listens to it’s mother’s voice that echoes within the womb. When the baby cries for the first time this voice soothes her/him as the voice is familiar. Slowly the baby reacts to the talks, touch and the gestures of the parents and family surrounding her/him. The crawling baby puts in efforts to learn to stand and then walk as she/he sees the parents do so and wants to follow them everywhere.  The toddler observes the parent’s every expression, movement, reaction and copies it. Till the age of 5 or 6   babies keeps observing, learning, re-earning and copying their parents and others around them. From 6 they start forming their identities, without leaving their firm roots instilled by the parents.   Each person is unique and so is each family. I am sure we all have a heartening story. Here is our homeschooling story I may call it ... 'learning from everywhere' or ' my learning my responsibility' Maybe both.. My son is 8 and 1/2  years now. When he was younger, he was most happy doing things that all children do. Play laugh and have fun. I had taken a break from my practice after conception and was home with him all the time. I observed how keenly he was observing and learning all the time. I let him play undisturbed with water, clay, dough, garden materials and  house hold  things. When someone goes to a shop to buy a gift, they are bombarded with shelf full of toys, books, DIY kits and what not. Too many choices confuse the buyer. The buyer keeps thinking, does the child I am buying this gift for already have this toy? Will the child like it and play with it or throw it away after one use?
